What was the need?

Migros, which prefers Teradata for data warehouse technologies in Turkey, has been working with Teradata for more than 25 years. In addition to the Master Data Warehouse System, Migros has been using the Teradata Intellibase DWH Platform, to which Teradata CIM (Customer Interaction Manager) and Teradata TVA (Teradata Value Analyzer) applications are connected, since April 2018.

In line with its strategic growth targets, Migros determined its modernization needs with a proactive approach in order to meet the workload that is expected to increase significantly in the near future. The current Teradata IB-IntelliBase Appliance system was modernized with the new generation Teradata Intelliflex 2.5 platform, which is more powerful and high capacity.

By running CIM and TVA applications on the modernized Teradata Appliance system, it was aimed to meet critical business needs in customer analytics and financial profitability.‍

It was a critical need to manage the increase in workload and data volume accurately without interrupting business processes.

Solution process and technologies used

The main expectation was to modernize the existing Teradata Appliance system and to meet the rapidly growing data volume and workload needs in line with Migros' strategic growth targets in the fastest way possible without interrupting existing processes.

In this direction, the delivery of the new generation Teradata Intelliflex 2.5 platform in a short period of 4 weeks and the ability to switch to the new platform in less than 24 hours played an important role in Migros' modernization decision.‍

With the modernization project, Teradata IFX 2.5 system was deployed, which will provide high performance in performance increase, data volume, high availability, analytics and tactical workloads demanded by Migros.

Thanks to the Teradata EnterpriseEdition portable software license, Migros was offered a platform suitable for Migros to easily transition to one of the hyperscale cloud platforms in the future without additional software costs and without additional code changes.

Teradata Vantage, the Teradata IntelliFlex hardware platform and integrated multi-cloud data platform, creates an integrated and scalable solution with peripheral systems to seamlessly manage all relevant data and deliver key analytics.
